Webinar: In Dialogue: Behind Commissioning and Curating International Exhibitions

In Dialogue: Commissioning & Curating International Exhibitions is a hybrid participatory dialogue led in collaboration by the teams behind the Singapore and the British Pavilions at the 17th International Architecture Exhibition at the Venice Biennale 2021. This dialogue examines the role that international cultural exhibitions can play in advancing discourse and practice regarding social and environmental transformation and managing multi-stakeholder partnerships.

In this 1-hour dialogue moderated by Razvan Ghilic-Micu, speakers Sevra Davis, Lay Bee Yap, Sarah Ichioka, Thomas Kong, Madeleine Kessler and Manijeh Verghese will use examples from their respective Pavilions and their professional experiences with previous editions of the Venice Biennale to discuss the different approaches taken by the British and Singaporean commissioning teams; and propose strategies for sustaining these relationships towards transformative and collaborative outcomes in future, particularly in light of the challenges of the pandemic (and our pressing need to decarbonise systems).

This event is presented as part of Archifest 2021 and supported by the Royal Institute of British Architects (International and Singapore). This event is conceptualised in our effort to support the UN Sustainable Development Goals especially in strengthening means of implementation and revitalising global partnership for sustainable development.
